Last Weekend

It was a busy weekend for us. Alex's birthday was on Friday and then we headed to St. George at 5:00 Saturday morning.

My moms best friends son got married in the St. George temple Saturday. We took the kids with us so that they could have a mini spring break. The weather was awesome. Sidney's favorite part of the trip was the reception was held at the same country club where High School Musical 2 was filmed. It was a very nice place.
Sunday we took our time coming home and made a bunch of stops all along the way. It took us 10and 1/2 hours to get home. It was worth it.

The first stop was looking over the St. George valley. My cute girls enjoying a little shade.

Our Family.
A cool little Indian house.
After we left here we started toward home. We stopped in Silver Reef and explored the little ghost town. Then we headed north again until we came to Kolob canyons. We took the short 5 mile drive into the canyons and it was beautiful. You would never believe that just a few miles away from the freeway this great hidden beauty exists.

Our next stop was in Parowan. Just 10 miles off the freeway is the Parowan Gap. There is a 1000 years of history in this short little canyonit was discovered by the Parley Pratt expidition in 1849. Cheif Walker told them that it was "God's Own House". There is a very reverent feel as you look at the history there saved in the rocks. Our last stop before we headed home was Cove Fort. Last summer Eric and I stopped for the first time and loved it. The kids wanted to go so luckily they were still open when we arrived. Here is where President Hinckleys dad grew up. The fort is neat. The stories that go along with it are great. It is a very uplifting place to visit. With a little more history mixed in.
This is the entrance to the fort. Only one shot was ever fired in the fort and it was the Hinckley children playing with a gun. Funny.
The family looking out the gun ports.

We had a very fun weekend. I have to say that it didn't last long enough. There were so many other things that we could have visited. We are starting to make a list of all the sites we need to go see and it will definatly take a while to do them all. This weekend was a good start.
