Blue and Gold

This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cub Scouting. For the Blue and Gold it was a birthday party. Here is our cute cake. I think Macey's did a fantastic job.

The boys have been working really had and we had 1/2 get awards last night along with some of our outstanding leaders. They work so hard. I am so impressed with all our leaders do. They really do an awesome job and the kids love them.

Braydon was able to get several awards last night. I am so proud of how excited he is to work so that he can get his achievements.

Thank You to all our great Scout Leaders and Bishopric who support our boys.

Sewing-- Who knew

So now I have this bug that is growing inside of me to just sew and sew and sew. Here are a few projects I have been working on.

This was for my sister-in-laws Birthday. The clover is on one side the Easter Egg on the back.

I didn't know if the Leprechaun would work but I think it turned out so cute.

Here is the front all put together.

Valentines Day 2010

On Thursday night we had a big party to get the kids Valentines all put together. This is our cute teacher gift. Homemade suckers and a little Valentine Tin. (My sister got the tins at work, they were going to toss them. Then we glued cute valentine paper and added ribbon.)

Alex's class had a contest for their Valentine Boxes. Alex won most creative. I think it turned out so cute.

Then we have pictures of the kids with their Valentine Stash.

But this one..... This is Sidney with her rose. Where does the time go??? She is already 14 1/2 it isn't long until she is way too grown up for me?

Science Fair

Wow!! I am amazed at what a great job the 2nd ward kids did in the science fair. Some great projects were done.

Alex's project was about Microwaved vegetables and if they spark. Well they do. Did you know if you break a baby carrot or a piece of celery in half and put the ends together it will spark in the microwave. We have actually caught a carrot on fire in there.
It was a fun project and Alex did a good job. I'm very proud of her.

St. Valentine's Day

Hunter was asking last night why we have Valentine's day. So I did a little research.

Valentine's day was named after St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off. While he was jailed the lovers he had secretly married would come to visit him and bring him flowers and notes of appreciation. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries and fertility rituals.

January Blues

I finally realized why people get so depressed the month of January. I took down all of my Christmas decorations way earlier than I normally do and my house seemed bare. Then I realized all of my projects were done. Now what??? I really felt sick and so sad. For months I had been working on quilts, pjs, crafts and shopping for the big day. Then January came and there was nothing to look forward to. No projects to work on and I had already read my book I got for Christmas.
So I started blog stocking but not just stocking, looking for ideas for projects. Eric's grandma was so kind to just give each of us some money so I started looking for what I could spend this money on that I didn't need to account for.
Well, I ended up with a quilt book and fabric. Now I need a job to pay for everything I want to make.

I also went through my moms scrapes and came up with the idea of a
Valentines Day table runner.

Once I finished that I started a St. Patricks table runner. I am also working on a patriotic quilt.

I think it has been so fun to create. Maybe next year I won't feel so bad when January rolls around.
