One Good Sandwich

When Sidney was a baby we would go to this cute little sandwich shop that was just a little hole in the wall. One of the best things they had was a vegetarian sandwich. Well the shop has long ago closed but we still make those sandwiches on our own. This weekend Eric and I took the sandwich to the extreme. It really isn't a vegetarian sandwich here because we toasted cheese and a thin layer of turkey onto the sandwich then we put all the veggies. Yummy!!!

Blue and Gold 2011

Braydon's last Blue and Gold and Hunter's first award.

I think the night went great. Brother Petty did a great job telling the history of Scouts.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Last weekend we took the kids to see the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. We read the Narnia books about 5 years ago. We fell in love with the stories. This is the first set of books that we read as a family. Hunter was only 3 at the time. He still loves the stories. We really enjoyed the movie.

Carl Bloch

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to see the Carl Bloch exhibit. It was so amazing! I couldn't believe how many of his paintings are used in the church today. There were a few there that it was hard to believe weren't photographs. It was a beautiful way to spend a Saturday.

Ground Hog Day

Hunter was so upset today that he had to go to school. I didn't understand why but then he explained. "Mom, it is ground hog day!" He thought it was a holiday and there wasn't any school. Ha! I wish! But after I explained he was off to school.

I just have to add, though, YAYAYA!!! The ground hog didn't see his shadow and that means EARLY SPRING!!!!!

Dad's Birthday

Today is my dad's birthday! He would have been 61. He was such a good dad. I miss him so much. I am so grateful for the heritage that I have. My kids have been talking a lot about him lately, it is so nice to get to tell them stories since they don't remember him that much.

Some of my favorite things about my dad:
He really knew something about everything. He was so smart. He loved to learn.
He taught me to love the gospel. He was a humble man. He loved to serve others. He was very giving. He loved to camp and would take us all over. He couldn't tell a joke. He loved us, I have no doubt.

Happy Birthday Dad. I love you!!

Hunter's middle name is Richard. He was blessed today 8 years ago and it was snowing like crazy.

Fred the Head

For Christmas Braydon wanted the CSI facial reconstruction set. He has been asking for a couple of years, but this year I finally told Santa it would be ok. Braydon has been obsessed with CSI and NCIS shows for almost 2 years. He loves the science behind the shows. So this is Fred. Braydon spent a couple of hours working on him and I think he turned out great.

Valentine's

It's Valentines!!! Time to put love in the air. I started decorating this past week. When the kids came home from school the other day they wanted to know why I had hung a naked baby on the windows! Well, his name is cupid. In Roman mythology, Cupid is the god of desire, affection and erotic love. He is the son of goddess Venus and god Mars.
Cupid is the most famous of Valentine symbols and everybody knows that boy armed with bow and arrows, and piercing hearts . He is known as a mischievous, winged child armed with bow and arrows. The arrows signify desires and emotions of love, and Cupid aims those arrows at Gods and Humans, causing them to fall deeply in love. Cupid has always played a role in the celebrations of love and lovers. In ancient Greece he was known as Eros, the young son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
